Who can apply

We'd like to hear from you if you are 18 years of age or older and your dog is at least 1 year old and is well behaved and likes being petted.

Please note:  We do not select breeds that are listed as "banned" under the NZ Dog Control Act 1996, i.e. American Pit Bull terrier type dogs, Dogo Argentino, Brazilian Fila and the Japanese Tosa breeds.    We also do not select cross-breeds of these breeds

The Application Process

There is a 5 step process for becoming a member

Apply: Fill in the online application form

Assess: You will then be contacted by an Assessor to arrange a time for you and your dog to be assessed.

Assign: If your dog is deemed suitable you will be assigned a location to visit

Pay: You pay your membership fee and receive your badge and scarf

Visit: Your assessor will accompany you on your first visit to introduce you to staff and show you the ropes

Please note: You may need to complete a Ministry of Justice criminal history check depending on the organisation you will be visiting.

The cost

There is a joining fee of $30 for a single owner or $35 for multiple owners. Annually there is a $20 fee for a single owner or $25 for multiple owners.
